20 Years of Optical Frequency Combs
The first measurement of the hydrogen 1S–2S transition frequency using an optical frequency comb dates back to 1999. It yielded a new value accurate to 1.8 parts in 1014, surpassing all earlier optical frequency measurements by more than an order of magnitude. In 2019, Menlo Systems offers complete solutions for optical clocks, enabling a measurement precision of 10-18 or better. Our Optical Frequency Combs and Ultrastable Lasers provide the core technology for high-end future applications.
